I just wanted to tell Shawn's family that I know EXACTLY what they are going through. My cousin and best friend, Veronica Blumhorst, disappeared from Mendota, IL on September 20, 1990. It's been 13 long years and we still don't know where she is.
Friends may say that they "know how you feel" but they're not quite right. NO ONE knows how deep the pain really goes. Living with closure does something to you that scars your soul. And there isn't exactly a class on "What to do when someone you love disappears." Nor is there a support group that meets in a Church basement to discuss this topic, either. You're alone, hurt and feeling like no one else knows your brand of pain.
To Shawn's Family: YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Keep the faith and never stop believing.
Sincerely,
Tonya Yetter
